The rain gave way for a great day in Newport, North Carolina!
Club members, the community, candidates, and elected officials gathered on Saturday, September 10, for a family-friendly meet-and-greet cookout. Candidates and officials from local to national races were in attendance.
Senator Norm Sanderson gave the invocation, followed by a moment of silence for 9/11, the Pledge led by Judge Bob Cherry, and the National Anthem sung by member Evonne Watson.
Speakers included: Congressman Dr. Greg Murphy, NC-03; NC Senator Norm Sanderson; Celeste Cairns, candidate for NC House District 13; Judge Bob Cherry; Gus Willis, candidate for NC Superior Court 2024; District Attorney Scott Thomas; Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck; Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes; Karen Hardesty, Register of Deeds; Chuck Shinn, County Commissioner; Chris Chadwick, County Commissioner; David Quinn, candidate for County Commissioner, and; Dana Vinson Mull, candidate for Carteret County Board of Education.
Associate members John Nix, Rick Cochran, and Matt Broughton manned the grill, while the candidates and elected officials donned gloves and served lunch to the attendees.
