The Crystal Coast Republican Women would like to Congratulate the Coastal Region honorees for this year's Tribute to Women Dinner.
Shirley Babson - Brunswick County Republican Women
Shirley Babson was a founding member and President of the Brunswick Republican
Women, and a delegate to the Republican National Convention. Active with her County
GOP since the 1960s, and serving as County Chair, Shirley was instrumental in the
construction of their headquarters. Shirley is a "Lifelong Champion for Children,"
serving as School Board member and Chair for over 30 years. Shirley is a devoted
Christian.
Dr. Kathryn Lawler - Brunswick County Republican Women
Active in Brunswick County Republican Women, and the County GOP for 22 years, Dr.
Kathryn Lawler, and her husband, Joe Agovino, support conservative values. Kathy
held numerous positions at local and state levels and attended five national NFRW
conventions. She has a wealth of knowledge, and keeps the club thriving, and is
always there for anyone who needs her help.
Dr. Bernadette L. McNulty - Craven County Republican Women's Club
Dr. Bernadette McNulty was Club President, chaired their Legislative Research and
Education Committees, and served on many committees. She has been in politics
herself, running for the Board of Education, and was an enthusiastic campaigner in
many racers, especially Presidential. On numerous occasions, Bernadette and her
husband, George, volunteered as poll observers.
Stephanie Broughton - Crystal Coast Republican Women
Our President and GOP First Vice Chairman manages social media, websites, attends
meetings, events, and NFRW Conventions. In 3rd District she chairs the Credentials
Committee, is on IT and Social Committees, and chartered the Crystal Coast Young
Republicans. For Trump Victory, she and her team knocked on 25,000 doors and made
over 40,000 phone calls. A decorated Army Veteran (Iraq), Stephanie rings the
Salvation Army Bell, collects for charities, and First Responders. She is highly
motivated, dedicated, and upholds conservative values.
Pamela Higgins - Lower Cape Fear Republican Women's Club
Pam Higgins is the hardest working, most dedicated treasurer they have had in 50
years. She was instrumental in raising a record-breaking $32,000 at their 2021 gala, for
18-year total candidate contributions of $148,000. When President in 1991, Pam saved
them from extinction when she signed up her two teenage daughters to meet the
minimum membership! Today, she keeps them on keel.
Lisa Carpenter - Onslow County Republican Women's Club
Lisa encouraged member participation in local campaigns and promoted a member
for the Board of Elections. Lisa, herself, was a candidate for the Onslow Board of
Commissioners ranking #1 over three incumbents, is NCFRW Coastal Region
Representative, and NCGOP 3rd District Member-At-Large, and spent the last year
campaigning for Ted Budd. The club earned its first NFRW Diamond Award in 2021.
